What is ERP?
Exposure & Response Prevention is a form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). ERP provides a safe environment for you to gradually be exposed to what causes your obsessive thoughts (exposure), and withholds you from responding with your compulsions (prevention).
The Benefits of ERP
Learning how to respond to intrusive thoughts is a powerful tool! While EPR cannot completely remove your intrusive thoughts, it can significantly decrease cycling, obsessions and anxiety. Through behavior-focused treatment, ERP can provide you with coping skills and prevent your compulsion from taking over.
