Trauma
Trauma touches every part of who we are. It can make it hard to feel safe, trust yourself, or connect with others. The effects can leave lasting emotional, psychological, and sometimes even physical wounds. Trauma can come from many different experiences - such as abuse, neglect, violence, accidents, natural disasters, or the loss of someone important.
Navigating the Aftermath

Experiencing trauma can bring a wide range of challenges. You might experience flashbacks, nightmares, heightened anxiety, depression, mood swings, or struggles with trust and connection. Some people turn to substances to cope, while others find it hard to feel safe in their own relationships. These responses are not signs of weakness - they are natural reactions to overwhelming experiences.
How you might be feeling...
Trauma responses are the ways our minds and bodies try to cope with overwhelming experiences. They can look different for everyone, showing up physically, emotionally, cognitively, or behaviorally. You might find yourself feeling irritable, restless, or constantly on alert for danger. You might struggle with sleep, or feel disconnected from your emotions, memories, or surroundings. Flashbacks, nightmares, and intrusive memories are also common. Sometimes these responses happen right away - and sometimes they surface weeks, months, or even years later. Whatever you're experiencing, it's a natural response to what you've been through.
